“SABU’S DEAD, YOU’RE LOOKING AT HECTOR MONSEGUR”
One of the most controversial hackers of his generation and former head of the Anonymous/LulzSec collective, ‘Sabu’ once ruled the hackivist scene – breaching high-profile organisations - from Nintendo, News Corp, PayPal, VISA, Mastercard to cybersecurity firms and military organisations.
Today, he has turned his life around and “Sabu” no longer exists.
After months in prison, Monsegur is now using his story to inspire the next generation of cybersecurity analysts to protect computer systems from people like him.
“Many organisations are still not taking their cybersecurity systems seriously, including governments,” commented Hector previously.
His rise from the projects on the Lower East Side of New York to becoming an acclaimed global cybersecurity expert is a rare and shining example of grit, determination and technical prowess second to none.
These days, Hector Monsegur spends his time as the Director of Assessment Services at Rhino Security Labs, while advising US government organisations and working on a film and book based on his life.
